Title: Inclusive Practices in Education Abroad: Why, Who, and How?
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00 to 1:15 pm, the Weeks of June 14 and 21
Location: Online

Who should enroll?
The online course has been designed as a professional development opportunity for those working in roles related to education abroad, including, for example, faculty, those working in education abroad offices (both sending and receiving), student affairs professionals and anyone with an interest in research and scholarship in related areas. As the course is intentionally international in its focus, participants from both outside and inside the U.S. are positively encouraged to enroll.

Course Description
Designed for practitioners and students alike, this hybrid course explores how approaches to inclusive excellence can be applied throughout the education abroad process to enhance all students’ learning. Doing so moves us away from looking primarily at compositional diversity to considering inclusion for quality and excellence. Using a mix of readings and applied case studies, we begin by exploring the rationales for why equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are relevant and critical in mobility schemes; who we are ultimately hoping to serve; and how we might go about affecting sustainable change.

Certification of Completion
Please note that all participants from outside Boston College will not receive academic credit nor a transcript documenting their participation in this course. However, all participants will be awarded a certificate of completion to share with their employers.

Any questions about this course can be directed to internationalhighered@bc.edu.
